New GSIS Programs and Degree Titles for Students Entering from Spring 2011
Beginning in March 2011 (Spring Semester), GSIS is offering a new curriculum structure geared towards four key goals: consolidation of existing programs, enhancing the competitiveness of our degrees, greater flexibility in choosing degrees and majors, and introducing a core curriculum for all incoming students. In an era marked by accelerating globalization and the loosening of traditional domains, our students must have the requisite skills to compete and to lead in very different public and private sector markets compared to a decade ago.
The GSIS student body is multinational, multicultural, and multi-disciplinary with diverse undergraduate majors. As a result, all incoming students will be exposed to a core curriculum during their first semester comprised of our core classes: Analytical Writing, Research Methodology, International Economics, and International Relations. Upon completion of their first semester, students will be able to tailor their courses to their respective needs and interests so that they will declare their program going into their third semester. Rather than declaring their program before they matriculate, the new structure will enable students to declare their program and degree after a full-year at GSIS.

The new curriculum will be effective from Spring Semester 2011 and all students who are currently enrolled at the GSIS (including students who entered in Fall Semester 2010) will abide by the requirements that were in effect at their time of admission.
