Economic Growth Strategies through Digital Transformation in the Post-COVID-19 era

November 2nd, 2022  | Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel, Korea

Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT(MSIT)

Organized by the National Information Society Agency(NIA)

BACKGROUND

Despite the rapid development of information communication technologies, global digital inequality continues, and the digital divide has been widening since the COVID-19 pandemic. To recover from the economic crisis and support the sustainable development of developing countries, the Korean Government has enlarged the scale of official development assistance (ODA) and prepared the following strategies to share the Digital Development model:
- Build ICT capacities for developing countries to be able to develop on their own

- Contribute to the integration of ICT into all sectors of society and economy

- Strengthen global cooperation with partner countries in the ICT field

In this regard, the MSIT and NIA have been implementing the Global ICT Leadership Forum for the Ministers in charge of ICT in partner countries since 2015.

This year, the MSIT and the NIA are organizing the 8th Forum to take place on November 2nd in Seoul, Korea for high-level officials of international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union(ITU), the World Bank Group(WB), the Black Sea Economic Cooperation(BSEC) and partner countries with the following programs:

- Plenary Session for sharing the outcome and strategies of Digital Transformation policies in Korea and global ICT trend

- Policy Sessions for sharing the status and strategies of Digital Transformation Acceleration, Sustainable Economic Growth, and Global ICT Cooperation

OBJECTIVE

The forum aims to discuss the strategies of Socio-economic growth with international organizations and partner countries, and deliver the outcomes of the Digital Transformation policies in Korea. It will also promote achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) by stimulating the Digital Transformation and bridging the digital divide.
