Application for Program Change (Master’s → Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program) for Fall 2025 Semester
Starting Fall 2025 semester, Yonsei Graduate School of International Studies will begin offering an integrated Master’s and Doctoral degree program. Accordingly, students currently enrolled in the Master’s program who wish to transfer to the integrated program may apply for a program change.
※Degree Requirements for Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program
1. 60 credits
2. A minimum GPA of 3.00 or above
3. Completion of GSIS core courses (passed or waived)
4. Completion of the Independent Study
5. Completion of the Field of Concentration: Choose two (2) fields under your major and take five (5) courses from each field
6. Minimum 3 years (six semesters) of enrollment
7. Completion of requirements within 16 semesters
8. Completion of the Foreign Language Examinations
9. Completion of the Comprehensive Examination
10. Completion of a Doctoral Dissertation and Oral Defense (minimum 2 thesis advising semester required. The semester which you submit the 'Thesis Application Form' to the office will be seen as the 1st advising semester)
11. Article publication in a journal which is recognized as a top-rated journal by the Korea Research Foundation or any equivalent journal
1. Application Period: June 24 (Tue) – July 8, 2025 (within 15 days after the end of the semester)
2. Submission and Approval Period: July 9 – July 18, 2025 (Fri)
3. Result Announcement: July 21st (Mon.) (applicants should check the result via Yonsei Portal system on their own)
4. Eligibility:
A. Students currently enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd semester of the Master’s program (those entering their 4th semester are not eligible to apply)
B. Applicants must submit a confirmation letter from their prospective advisor of the integrated program (form attached)
C. Applicants must have earned at least 18 credits if applying in their 2nd semester, or at least 27 credits if applying in their 3rd semester, and must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 out of 4.3.
5. Application Procedure:
A. Submit an online application via Yonsei Portal Service ([http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr](http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr)) ⇒ Academic Information System ⇒ Log in ⇒ Academic Affairs ⇒ Academic Records ⇒ Student ⇒ Application for Program Change (Master’s → Integrated)
B. After completing the online application, submit the Academic Advisor Confirmation Form (attached) via email to gsisoffice@yonsei.ac.kr
