On May 10, 2025, Yonsei GSIS students swapped books and devices for baseball gloves and beer when they headed to Jamsil Stadium in the Seoul Sports Complex to watch a thrilling KBO match between the NC Dinos and the Doosan Bears. 50 students came together to cheer, chant, relish, and dive into the Korean baseball culture with Yonsei-blue gear on.
After gathering at the Sports Complex Station, students moved together to the Jamsil Baseball Stadium and arrived just in time for the game to start. For many of the students, it was their very first experience of spectating a Korean baseball game in person, which is known to be more lively than other baseball games around the globe. Students were surprised by the lively atmosphere of the stadium with fans and cheerleaders cheering with thundersticks and leading synchronized chants and dances for the players. Students also enjoyed one of the most iconic parts of Korean baseball culture, which is eating Korean fried chicken and other stadium treats, not offered anywhere else outside Korea!
This event wasn’t just about baseball, as it brought and connected people together. Students from all different majors, backgrounds, and countries came together for the game, cheering together, enjoying fried chicken and beer, and laughing along the way. By the end of the game, people who started as strangers were chatting like old friends, taking selfies, and already making plans to hang out together again.
