The GSA's GCC Representative successfully organized a cozy and meaningful movie night this semester, bringing students together on November 28 for an evening of community and relaxation. The Representative was especially excited to see this initiative take shape, encouraging more GCC students to participate in future activities. 

The challenges for many GCC students are the dominance of English in campus events, which can make participation intimidating or simply uncomfortable. To dismantle this barrier and foster a more welcoming, relaxed social environment, the GCC Representative joined forces with several Chinese students to orchestrate a special movie night.

With holidays around the corner, the chosen movie was the Christmas classic Home Alone (1990). The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, with snacks. The event fostered a sense of comfort and engagement among participants, as both the movie time and the subsequent conversations were enjoyable.

As for future events, the GCC Representative of GSA 2025-2 recommends students to follow and participate in GSA events and collaborate with the next Representative for more events like this in GSIS. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of more GCC activities and spaces where students feel encouraged to take part in strengthening the community.
