Starting from that breezy day, now we are in the middle of 2026. Temperature keeps going up day-by-day, and hopefully yours stays stable. We are welcoming the lovebug concert, which means summer is coming to Korea. To keep our mental health and stability, we should do something memorable and fun to face the summer and be ready for autumn. So here are my small tips for you to survive during summer in Korea. Before the summer hits make sure you have your portable fan and cooling tissue is ready! These two essential things you must bring with you anytime to actually face the sun. You can definitely find those products anywhere near your place like Daiso, Artbox, or Coupang! But if you still feel hot when you are outdoors, one tip that I heard from Koreans is to go to the nearest mall or ATM to cool down for a while. I did this cool tip last summer. Next, to beat summer heat prioritize lightweight, breathable natural fiber fabrics such as linen or cotton. You can dress-up based on your preferences, but don’t do too much layering! You are already as powerful as the sun.
After all is done, going to find cute cafes, good food, gathering with your friends or spending your time alone during summer is totally a great idea. Personally, during summer I spent mostly my time alone by going to the nearest hangang (한강) during the evening, jogging, walking, or riding a bicycle. I think sunset during summer is the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever seen. I am always grateful to be able to see the sun going down and the sky changing to orange, and I encourage you to see at least once.
Summer in Korea can be tough! But with a positive mindset (and portable fan), it’s also incredibly magical and fun. Take care of your health, explore the city, and let’s survive and thrive this season together!
