Fall 2018 Orientation for Incoming Students
Another semester break passed and Yonsei GSIS welcomed over 100 new students from 36 different countries on August 28 at the Fall 2018 orientation.
The new dean, Jeong Yeon Lee (Ph.D.), opened the ceremony with his welcoming remarks, emphasizing what great honor and pleasure it is to open yet again the doors of GSIS for students from all over the world, adding diversity and a variety of backgrounds to the student body. He advised students to not only focus on their classes alone, since the greatest learning opportunity at GSIS lies in the chance to engage with new, different cultures and to learn to understand and appreciate them. Moreover, he added that it is important to actively participate in events, the student association or other extracurricular activities, and interact with students in order to develop skill sets that are critical in our age of globalisation. He ended his speech by promising the students that Yonsei will do its best to provide them with excellent opportunities and services - since everyone at Yonsei is a member of one team, dedicated to cultivate new global leaders.
We welcome all new students one more time and hope you will have a wonderful first semester at Yonsei GSIS!
