On the 7th of November, Yonsei GSIS invited Somi Kwon, the director of Human Asia, for leadership talk series by the CDC. Human Asia is a Seoul-based NGO, and whose works center around human rights issues at large specifically in Asia. Director Somi Kwon, presenting a great number of past projects in Laos, India, and Korea, introduced the organization’s extensive and singular role in building a regional platform for the causes of human rights in the region. The director’s talk also touched upon the benefits and limitations of working in an NGO, from the career and operational perspectives; and her candid exposition was something students would not be able to have access to outside the lecture. In the Q&A session, Director Somi Kwon answered questions on matters ranging from the organization’s cooperation mechanism with other development agencies to how internship experience at Human Asia could provide students with understandings of project management in the field of international development.
