Hi everyone, welcome to the second edition of the GSIS coffee column! This time I have two beautiful recommendations for you to visit whenever you need a little break in the upcoming weeks.

Though perhaps now it’s getting a little too cold for it, the perpetual gentle weather of November lent itself perfectly for the theme of “Rooftop Cafes” we explored during the end of October and beginning of November. And there was no doubt that the one who won our hearts was Balcony Garden. The Halloween decor and themed drinks made for a unique and fun experience, and the great weather meant that we could enjoy the autumn sun whilst we chatted and enjoyed our spooky drinks.

This one is also good for larger groups of friends, so if you’re looking for a place to hang out when the weather warms up again in Spring, save this one to your pins!

Our second theme was “Hidden Gems of Sinchon”, where we went to look for places that don’t necessarily jump out when you walk down the main street. The one that took a lot of people by surprise was Cafe Minerva, one of the oldest cafes in Sinchon. This one was particularly good for the Real Coffee Lovers, because they specialize in drip coffee. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, and it felt like we were transported back in time. It’s a little more on the pricey side, but it makes up for it with pure vibes that make you want to linger long after your coffee is done.

Also, they make a mean affogato, and I know that is what I can really appreciate in a place like this.

And that’s it for this edition! I hope that you have discovered a new place you want to visit (I bet Cafe Minerva is delightful when it snows), and I look forward to the next coming weeks, where we are bound to find new and wonderful cafes aplenty. There may be a tomato shortage in Korea, but there is definitely not a café shortage.
