Congratulations on getting into Yonsei GSIS! As you embark on this new journey, you may feel a little lost and stressed about what lies ahead, but rest assured: it will be the best time of your life. Here are some valuable tips to help you to survive and thrive during your time at Yonsei GSIS.

Graduate school is a lot of work, assignments, presentations, due dates, etc. To keep up and stay on top of your academic responsibilities, you must prioritize time management, which may involve tools like apps or calendars to help you effectively organize and schedule your tasks. 

Interact actively with your professors

Interaction is essential for a rewarding academic experience. Whether attending office hours, emailing your professors, or participating in class, you can establish a direct line of communication with your professors, which will help you get personalized assistance and a deeper understanding of course material. 

Engage with your schoolmates

Seek advice and recommendations from your schoolmates regarding courses, other academic requirements, or any concerns you may have. Their insights and experiences can effectively guide you through your academic journey. Build a social network, make friends, and enrich your overall experience!

Make the most of Yonsei’s Library’s amenities

Yonsei University is renowned for its exceptional library amenities, meticulously designed to support academic excellence. Whether you visit the Central Library or the GSIS Library located on the 3rd floor of NMH, you will have access to quiet study places, and advanced research resources essential for productive study sessions. 

Get involved on campus
For those seeking new experiences and chances to connect with others, campus events offer many opportunities. There is something for everyone; whether it is attending Career Talks, joining student clubs, or enjoying exciting events like the Yonsei-Korea University joint cheering event or the Yon-Ko games, there is something for everyone. Stay informed of all the events and make the most of your time here! 

Engage in language exchange opportunities

Yonsei University is a melting pot of cultures and linguistic backgrounds. Embrace this rich diversity by actively participating in language exchange events or clubs like “Iyagi Hour, where you can improve your language skills and make meaningful connections. 

Take care of your health
Balance your time wisely by prioritizing your studies and physical and mental well-being. Explore the various restaurants and cafes on and off-campus in Sinchon for nutritious options, and take advantage of the gym facilities and soccer field on campus for exercise. Also, use the serene spots on our beautiful campus, such as Underwood Memorial House or the Metasequoia forest road to Muak Dormitories, which are perfect for walking, reading, and meditation.
